While Shawn Fox primarily focuses on the design and implementation of wills and trusts for tax planning and legacy security, his practice goes far beyond that. He is also experienced in crafting plans for minor children, immature beneficiaries, insurance planning, spendthrift beneficiaries, special needs beneficiaries, creditor avoidance, asset projection, retaining control of assets, and many other special cases suited to each client’s particular needs. In tandem with his estate planning services, Shawn assists his clients with matters of succession planning, business interests, and other corporate matters. In addition, Shawn handles estate administration matters after death, guiding each family through the process of probate administration, even in contentious or complicated estate and trust litigation cases.

Shawn’s intellectual property experience complements his estate planning practice, as he understands not only the finer legal details of how to protect copyrights, trademarks, patents, trade secrets, and other intellectual properties, but he also understands the importance of these properties to artists, inventors, writers, business owners, and others as they consider their work and legacy. Shawn assists his clients in registering and protecting their intellectual property rights and uses his estate planning knowledge and experience to carefully craft plans to protect those after death, coordinating the terms of their use and avoiding exploitation.

Outside of the office, Shawn is part of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and has held leadership positions in the Louisville Bar Association. He is also an active member of his church, Saint Gabriel Parish, where he served in the past as Administration Committee Chair. Shawn also delivers frequent lectures on estate planning issues, including probate and trust administration, estate and trust litigation, guardianship, and estate planning for seniors, in order to inform and educate both professional and community groups.
