Litigation allows me the opportunity to bring my abilities and experience to bear on behalf of my clients in a thoroughly satisfactory way. I view each client’s matter as a tantalizing problem to solve, and every case provides a new challenge in working my client out from the center of a maze with no easy answers. It’s not the fight that drives me, it’s the notion that I am responsible for guiding my client through a difficult time. I am responsible for seeing my client through the storm. Each matter can go to the very heart of a client or a client’s business, so I make every client’s matter my own, regardless of the size or scope of the case.
It is always my goal in practicing law to resolve my client’s disputes successfully, expeditiously and efficiently. Sometimes that will lead to a trial in a courtroom, but more often I can skillfully find a resolution for my clients that provides a positive outcome before it gets that far. Litigation is not about winning at all costs – it is about ensuring that the client receives the best possible resolution to a matter.
I became a lawyer to follow in the footsteps of my father, who encouraged me to join a worthwhile profession that had provided him with a rewarding and challenging career. In over forty years in that vocation, I have never looked back.
I was an associate at Sandidge, Holbrook & Craig PSC from 1976 to 1980. That firm became Holbrook, Gary, Wible & Sullivan PSC and I became a partner in 1980. That firm eventually became what is now known as Sullivan Mountjoy, PSC. In 1997, I joined the firm of Reed Weitkamp Schell & Vice PLLC, where I have been a Member.
I was President of the Kentucky Defense Counsel from 1992 to 1993 and a State Representative of the Defense Research Institute from 1997 to 1999. I'm currently the President of the Somerset Patio Homes Association.
