This was a defamation action brought by a County Sheriff against three assistant state auditors that had written a report that was critical of some of the Sheriff’s practices following a periodic field audit. The Court of Appeals, in a published decision, upheld the decision of the Livingston Circuit Court, finding that the auditors’ opinions were privileged as “pure opinion statements.”
