McBrayer PLLC stakes out its territory in the realm of horseracing, gaming and other equine law fields as it welcomes Vince Gabbert to the firm. Joining as Of Counsel, Gabbert comes to the firm following over a dozen years serving as the Chief Operating Officer of Keeneland. He now also serves as President of the Lexington Sporting Club, the city’s new professional soccer franchise. Gabbert’s practice at McBrayer’s Lexington office will center on equine and gaming law, especially regulatory compliance in those areas.
Over his years at Keeneland, Gabbert gained a great deal of knowledge regarding the Thoroughbred racing industry in Kentucky and beyond, a great asset to McBrayer’s equine law practice group and the industry stakeholders it serves. Gabbert’s arrival is especially timely given the July 1st implementation of the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority (HISA), the first federal governing body for the sport. Gabbert and the rest of McBrayer’s equine law team will be available to assist clients with the transition to new national compliance standards.
“With the sport of horseracing at a national crossroads, there could not be a better time to welcome an individual with Mr. Gabbert’s level of knowledge and experience to our firm,” said Managing Member James H. Frazier, III. “We are honored that such a respected member of the Kentucky horseracing community is joining us, and we know that Mr. Gabbert will continue to be invaluable to that community in his new role at McBrayer.”
For Gabbert, the move to McBrayer felt like a natural next step in his career. “The name speaks for itself,” said Gabbert. “To be a part of something that [Founding Member] Terry [McBrayer] helped create is an honor and a privilege, and to work with the stellar team that is already assembled to further that legacy is extremely humbling. I look forward to the opportunity to collaborate with my new colleagues to help build a bright future for Kentucky’s world-famous equine industry.”
