The 50th Anniversary of the Copyright Society’s Annual Meeting and the 1978 Copyright Act was a success! The Copyright Society turned out in near-record numbers to attend the conference, held in Louisville, and the city pulled out all the stops to give them a warm Kentucky welcome.
We were thrilled to be the Diamond Sponsor of the event, which gave copyright practitioners some valuable takeaways:
1. The future of copyright law is fuzzy: several panels focused on major decisions over the past year that upended longstanding copyright precedent.
2. AI continues to upend copyright law: over a hundred cases are still pending related to artificial intelligence’s role in copyrightable works and infringement, with opinions all over the globe coming out in different ways.
3. The Louisville Orchestra’s own Grammy Award-winning music director, conductor and composer Teddy Abrams was honored by the Copyright Society with the Award for Excellence in Creativity.
It was our pleasure to welcome the Copyright Society to the Bluegrass, and we hope everyone enjoyed their time in our Old Kentucky Home.
